Many Years Ago, we were cruising through Murrells Inlet, SC and decided to try Prosser’s BBQ, a Restaurant we had driven by several times. We really enjoyed our food, and began to eat here semi-regularly. Fast Forward to January 2021, and Unfortunately Prosser’s Closed. And we were left with a hole in our eating locations list. But, all hope was not lost. A few months later, a new restaurant opened in Murrells Inlet which still offered Prosser’s BBQ and even had brought on many of the Prosser’s Staff, some of which are still greeting Visitors Today. That Restaurant was called Judy Boone’s Family Traditions Kitchen. It has since become a Staple of the Local Restaurant Scene, with many people considering it the Best Buffet in Murrells Inlet. We tried it not long after it opened and have not looked back.
Judy Boone’s: History, and Location
Judy Boone’s Family Traditions Kitchen opened in the Spring of 2021. It is located on the South End of Murrells Inlet, in the Building that used to house the Admiral’s Flagship Restaurant. When Prosser’s Closed in 2021, the Owner of the Admiral’s Flagship saw an opportunity. So he acquired the rights to sell the Prosser’s BBQ and Sauce to completely transform the Admiral’s Flagship with it’s Seafood Buffet into Judy Boone’s Family Traditions Kitchen, offering Delicious Country Cooking.
Atmosphere of Judy Boone’s Family Traditions Kitchen
The Exterior of the Restaurant features a small outdoor seating area with Tables and Chairs, plus a couple of Covered Benches near the front door. Upon entering the Restaurant, you will find a Spacious Lobby, which features the Guest Check In area and a few benches for Guests waiting. This is a Very Popular Restaurant and it is NOT Uncommon to find that there is a line at the front door when they open. While they have a Large Dining Area, Guests can still have a Wait for a Table during Busy Times. To Enter the Dining Area from the Lobby, Guest will climb a few stairs, however there is a Ramp in the Back of the Building should you need to use it.
Once you reach the top of the stairs, you will be greeted by the first of three Dining Rooms, which also houses the Buffet Area. The Largest Dining Room, the third dining room, is in the back and is connected to the first dining room by a smaller dining room in the middle. The Whole Building Carries the nautical theming, with Model Ships as well as Mariner Inspired Signs adorning the walls and beautiful stained glass windows.

Buffet Features
Judy Boone’s Family Traditions Kitchen offers a large assortment of delicious food. Their Offerings are spread across three buffets, all of which are located in the first dining room. The First and Third Dining Room each feature a small dessert buffet. While many people choose to come and sit down to eat at Judy Boone’s, they do offer To-Go Options.
The Buffet at Judy Boone’s features many scrumptious staples, including Fried or Baked Chicken, Pulled Pork, Fried Pork Chops, Chicken Bog, Flounder, Shrimp, Mac and Cheese, Mashed Potatoes, Gravy, White Rice, plus more. Their Pulled Pork BBQ does use a Vinegar Based Sauce. The Buffet also offers both Hush Puppies and Rolls for you to choose from, or you can even have both. They also offer a full salad bar with lots of toppings. Through out the week, the buffet may also features special items, such as Livers and Gizzards, Brisket, Fried Devil Crab, Shrimp and Grits, Baked Ham, Oven-Roasted Turkey, and Dressing. For those of you looking to finish off your meal with something sweet, Judy Boone’s offers a small but full dessert buffet for your choosing. It features Fresh Baked Cobbler, Brownies, and Cookies.
Meal Thoughts
We had a Fantastic Meal at Judy Boone’s. Each Member of Our Family got things that we enjoyed and plenty to eat. We tried the Salad, this trip and were pleased with the quality and variety of the offerings. All of the Food was Hot and Fresh. The Fried Chicken and Pork Chops both had a good crust and Flavor. The Pulled Pork was Good. We love the fact that you can get both fish and shrimp on the buffet. The Chicken Bog was well made. The Mac and Cheese tasted Homemade. Plus they had both Lima Beans and Field Peas on the Buffet during our visit. We all loved the Scrumptious Offerings that we got and agreed that we would get them again in the future. For Dessert, Daddy got a Cookie and some Brownies that he really enjoyed, and said he would get again. I, personally, have always felt that their rolls were delicious and are a better dessert for me.
Final Thoughts
Our Family choose to visit Judy Boone’s on Saturday, July 12, 2025 for a Fabulous Lunch. We were there when they opened, and had a Wonderful Meal as always. All of the Servers and Staff are very Friendly and Helpful. We always seem to find something new to look at in the decor on each visit.
To Us, this has been the Best Buffet in Murrells Inlet, SC since it opened, and it continues to be so. It offers us things that we all like in a warm welcoming environment. Will we be dining here again? Absolutely.
